Plagiarism Screening Policy

TPB does not permit any form of plagiarism. In line with journal policy, all submitted manuscripts are screened with plagiarism-detection software to identify overlapping or similar text before evaluation by editors and reviewers.

The primary criteria for acceptance are scientific rigor and the manuscript's potential to advance the field. Authors must follow the specifications below; failure to do so may delay or result in rejection of a submission. All papers are subject to peer review.

Manuscript Submission

All papers must follow these guidelines; failure to do so will result in the manuscript being returned to the author, likely delaying publication. Manuscripts are submitted online. Beginning with the title page, all pages should be numbered sequentially in the upper right-hand corner.

ORCID

The submitting author is required to supply an ORCID iD at submission (~2 minutes). Register here.

A cover letter template is available within the submission system.

Conflict of Interest

Disclose all relevant conflicts of interest between the Acknowledgements and References sections. If any author is a current TPB Editor or Editorial Board Member, this must be stated. Every author must complete the Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form; the corresponding author is responsible for collecting all completed forms.

Ethical Considerations

Authors must confirm that the study protocol was approved by a properly constituted institutional Ethics Committee and complies with the Declaration of Helsinki. All human-subjects research must include a statement confirming informed consent was obtained. Patient privacy must be protected — identifying photographs must be edited (or an eye bar applied) to prevent identification. Animal studies must be shown to be ethically appropriate and, where applicable, follow national standards for animal use in research.

Text footnotes are not permitted — include such information parenthetically within the text.

Article Types & Word Counts

Type Length
Original Article Up to 5,000 words (excl. references) + 250-word abstract. No limit on tables/figures.
Review Paper 4,000–5,000 words (up to 80 references), 250-word abstract, 4–6 tables/figures.
Mini-Review Summary of recent insights within a specific area of the journal's scope.
Short Communication Extends previously published research — additional controls, confirmatory or negative results.
Letter to the Editor Open, post-publication comment on a published article.

References

References should be numbered sequentially in order of appearance, with in-text citations as Arabic superscript numerals, following Vancouver style. A DOI must be included for each reference.

  4. All authors have read the Ethics in Publishing, Plagiarism Prevention, Violation of Publication Ethics, and Handling of Misconduct Cases policies prior to submission.
  5. The manuscript has been read and approved by all listed authors.
  6. The corresponding author and all contributors are registered on the journal website so their names appear correctly in the manuscript bio-sketches.
