Trends in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (TPB) is committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity and actively preventing research misconduct. The journal employs all available means to ensure that falsified or unethical research is not published.

While there is no universally accepted definition of research misconduct, the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) broadly categorizes it into three main forms:

  1. Fabrication – making up data or results.

  2. Falsification – manipulating research materials, equipment, or processes, or changing or omitting data.

  3. Plagiarism – using another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without proper attribution.

Trends in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (TPB) fully adopts and applies COPE’s standards and procedures when investigating and handling allegations of research misconduct. Each component of misconduct is addressed under the journal’s assurance and ethics policies.
